説教あらすじ 「尊敬に値する人」 (23/02/2025)
[ピリピ人への手紙２章２５～３０節]
◆エパフロディトがしたこと
・今日の箇所を見る限りでは、この『エパフロディト』という人物は元々ピリピ教会の中心的メンバーで、パウロのための支援物資（献金?）を教会から託されてパウロに届けたようだ。また「パウロの友・同労者」として仕え、 何らかの事情で重病になったらしい。
◆エパフロディトの心の内にあったもの（２６，２９～３０節）
・パウロは「彼のような人たちを尊敬しなさい」と勧めている。パウロはエパフロディトのどのような点を「尊敬に値する」と評価したのだろうか？ 単に「福音のために命を懸けたこと」であろうか？
・ここで語られているエパフロディトの特筆すべき点の１つは「自分が病気になったことを知った人たちの事を心配している」ということ。彼は「福音宣教の働きが滞ってしまう」というようなこと以上に、ピリピ教会の『人々』のこと を案じていた。このことから、彼が「働き」よりも『人』を心に掛けている人物だ、という事が読み取れる。
・『福音宣教』というと、つい「働きそのもの」や「人が救われる」という出来事に目が行きやすい。しかし、福音宣教の中心は「神と人々に対する愛」である。『尊敬に値する人』、それは「偉業を成し遂げた人」ではなく、「神と人とを愛する人」。そしてこれこそが、私たちが目指すべき生き方そのものではないだろうか？
今日の要点： 「タスク」ではなく、『人』

◆Who is Epaphroditus？
・Epaphroditus seems to be a member of the church in Philippi, entrusted a gift for Paul. He didn’t just deliver that gift but stayed with Paul and helped his ministry. And he became very sick for some reason.
◆What kind of person is he？（Verses ２６，２９～３０）
・Paul said, “honor such men”. So “what kind of men” is Paul thinking “to be honored”？
・Epaphroditus was not thinking of “himself” or “their ministry” but “his church family” when he became very sick. “People” were far more important for him than “events or tasks”. When we think of “Ministry”, we tend to take importance of “what to do” rather than “who we are doing for”. In fact, “Ministry” is all about “Love for God and people”！
・Jesus’ focus was not “Crucifixion” but “The One who sent him”. When he was asked what the most important command is, without hesitation he answered, “Love God and people”. This is something we all should aim for！
Today’s main point： Not “Task” but “People”.
